Practice safety first

  Kayaking kids explore Put-in-Bay
Exploring the lake around the islands is a lot of fun, especially in a kayak where you go at your own pace, but always remember to practice safety first.
Be sure you always wear a lifejacket and, if you're alone, alway let someone know what you are doing, where you are going and what time you expect to return.
Its always best to err on the side of caution. We want you to enjoy your kayaking experience and return for another fun adventure kayaking the Bay at Put-in-Bay, Ohio.
Here are some other tips when planning a day of kayaking around the islands.

♥  Wear a swimsuit under your regular clothes for changing quickly for your kayaking adventure.
♥  Be sure to take drinking water along--its important you are hydrated while exercising.
♥  Be sure to bring sunblock for your nose and lips and a good suntan lotion for your   shoulders, neck, arms and legs.
♥  A cap is always good protection from the sun as is a good pair of sunglasses.
♥  You might consider wearing a bandana tucked under the back of your cap for some extra protection for your neck. Kayakers need a traffic cop
♥  Bring a plastic ziplock bag to keep your keys, mobile phone, wallet, etc. dry. Set aside a reasonable amount of time to explore the islands--two hours is a good start.
♥  Bring along a snack, or eat prior to your adventure.
♥  Travel with a friend or with family--its more fun exploring with others.
♥  Paddling is a great way to tone your arms and build muscle in your shoulders and upper arms. If you haven't used those muscle too much prior, don't overdo it your first time out.

Kayak the Bay provides its clients with lifejackets and bottled water is available at the launch site. There's nothing like a peaceful "yak" around the bay, but it's even more fun when you share the experience so bring along some friends and/or family and explore together.

No need to make reservations for your kayaking experience at Put-in-Bay, but during peak season we get busy by noon.
